“An Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth” By Chris Hadfield Review

astronaut's guide to life on earth

“An Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth” is written by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield telling the story of how he achieved his dreams, at least on the surface of the book’s story it is. It is full of technology and space history feats and details as well as Chris’s personal challenges throughout his career. However where it really shines is the stories of friends and important life lessons all tied in a perfect bow of the humble writer that is Chris Hadfield.

One of my favorite things about not just his writing but Chris Hadfield’s overall personality is his humbleness. He tells the stories of near-death experiences, amazing scientific feats, and his own story of success yet he does it in such a way where he isn’t just bragging about his achievements, quite the opposite in fact. Chris makes it a point to show that he is just like the rest of us and how going to space has taught him ways to improve his outlook on life and Earth that we all can use in out day to day lives. He talks, not just about his own mission, but the various space events that we have achieved such as the first woman in space, the shuttle program, and our partnership with the Russian cosmonauts. Chris tells of friends, adventure, and “aiming to be a zero” which is my favorite part of the entire book.

Going into this I thought I would just be reading an ordinary autobiography and some cool facts on space, and I did get that, but what I didn’t know was that It would be one of the most inspirational and motivational books I have ever read and that is has changed my way of thinking on quite a few areas of life.
